Lance Corporal Herbert Henry Sharp(e)

Herbert Sharpe was born at Leake on 24th March 1892, the third son of Charles Melson Sharp and his wife Emma. He was baptised at Stickney church in May 1892 where he was recorded as living at Midville. When he enlisted he went into the 2/5th West Yorkshire Regiment also known as the Prince of Wales Own. He embarked for France in January 1917 arriving in Le Havre. Herbert Sharp was injured in battle and died of his wounds in hospital at Rouen on 12th August 1918. He is buried in St Sever Cemetery Extension at Rouen.
